1825 Klaus Stein and his parents join Austin's Colony
1826 Miss Emily is kidnapped by English slaver and sold in New Orleans to Mr. North



1827 Mexico declines Pres. John Quincy Adams' offer of $1 million to purchase Texas 
1829 Mexico declines Pres. Andrew Jackson's offer of $5 million to purchase Texas
1830 Mexican government prohibits further U.S. immigration into Texas, increases tariffs on U.S. Goods, and demands all slaves be freed




1832 Klaus Stein marries Francesca Castillo
1832 Oct. Delegates petition for Texas to become a separate state within Mexico
1833 Aug. Mia Stein is born in San Antonio de Bexar
1834 Mexicans imprison Texas cotton plantation owners who refuse to distribute crop to Mexico instead of exporting to Europe. Santa Anna orders disbandment of Texas militias.

Dec. General Cos, Santa Anna's brother-in-law, surrenders to Texians at Alamo.

21 April Battle of San Jacinto: Texas secures its independence and becomes a Republic
August The Allen brothers create Houston Texas, naming it after General Sam Houston
